My First Hollow Beads!

I'm very excited to share my first set of hollow beads with everyone! I made the first one of these about 6 months ago with the intention of making a whole set at the time...but didn't get around to it until now! lol Typical me there!!! ;) I have to say, they were challenging to make, but I love the way the light shines through them and how they are larger than my round beads would normally be, but are still lightweight. They have a very ethereal feel to them in my opinion, and of course, I had to add a touch of earth to all that otherworldlyness, so you'll see that I rolled the base of each bead in reactive brown "raku" frit and then melted it in partially. Oh, Bliss...I Love Spring!!!

I've seen 42 springs, you'd think I'd be used to them by now, right? Bored to death with them, sick of the same old thing? Yeah, whatever. Spring is absolutely my favorite time of year! After the long winter with barren trees, snow and ice...I am always ready for things to become green and gentle again, for trees to burst forth in their glorious blossoms and flowers to uncoil from beneath the earth and spread delicate petals to the sun!
